Aberdeen

Description

Aberdeen maintains a unique balance between traditions and charm with the modern facilities and infrastructure necessary to sustain a thriving centre for international business, without losing its relaxed pace of life.

The city offers a wide range of conference venues, from traditional country houses to the high tech, state of the art Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC). The AECC has the capacity to provide 7,300 sq. m of exhibition space and a theatre style conference for up to 2,000 delegates. With around 6,000 bedrooms in a variety of city centre conference hotels, guest houses and campus accommodation, delegates can easily be accommodated. An array of contemporary restaurants and clubs with a truly global flavour complement the more traditional performance and cultural spaces found at the Art Gallery, Music Hall and His Majesty’s Theatre.

As well as a stunning cityscape, Aberdeen boasts a rapidly expanding international airport, a bustling harbour, two universities and seven major research institutes. Aberdeen International Airport is situated 6 miles north of the city centre with frequent flights to London and most other UK airports plus many direct flights to Northern European destinations.

The city stands at the gateway to Scotland’s castle and whisky country, providing a fresh choice of itineraries for social programmes and gala events. The Cairngorms National Park is easily accessible and the pureness of air and the quality of light in this part of the world provide the environment for some of Scotland’s most spectacular wildlife. The rugged landscape provides the opportunity to participate in a variety of adventure sports all year round making this the perfect place for an extended break after a conference.
