Special events

The all-year-round program of events, festivals and celebrations is colourful, new, exciting and unique. The year starts with the glitter of fireworks and cultural highlights at the Brandenburg Gate, and continues at balls or galas in opera houses and concert venues, the Rosenball Charity Gala 2008, the Classic Open Air on Gendarmenmarkt, the Night of the Museums, the JazzFest and finally Federal Press Ball 2008. And in the middle of the year: the Berlin summer with the hottest events held outside on the city’s broad streets, magnificent squares, and superb arenas. Christopher Street Day, the Carnival of Cultures, Rescue 2008 Lifesaving World Championships and the Berlin-Marathon. Berlin is open 24 hours a day and there are numerous events year-around.
