Oslo
Description
With its 1000 year old history, Oslo is the oldest of the Nordic capitals. The city, surrounded by islands and forested hills, is located at the head of Oslo fjord. From the Viking age until today, people have looked to this place as a safe haven for trade, industry and cultural enrichment. Today, Oslo has a population just over 560 000 inhabitants, and is the nation’s financial, political and cultural centre as well as a major seaport.
Oslo is a big city with a small town atmosphere which makes it an attractive tourist- and conference destination. The infrastructure is excellent and transfer from Oslo International Airport to the city centre is 20 min by speed train. The city centre is small and compact, and most hotels, meeting facilities, attractions, shopping areas, and nightlife entertainment are within walking distance. Oslo is a city of contrasts and multitude. The combination of city life, cultural activities and easy access to recreation areas creates unique opportunities and makes Oslo an increasingly attractive destination for congress organisers from all over the world.
